After graduating, Darien moved to Kansas City, Missouri to attend the Kansas City Art Institute for a year to improve his artwork. Carrie Esser, John Byrd, George Timoc, Jane Shallenbarger and the ceramic students all played a role in the development of Darien’s work. After a year at the art institute, Darien left school to work in a studio space he shared with Justin Stewart and Jason Lips.
Darien currently lives in Kansas City, Kansas, working as an interior remodeler for Ferguson Interiors and a substitute teacher for the Kansas City MO School District. He is still making art, and had his first solo show in October 2005 at Tchoupitoulas.
